The Kogi State Government has confirmed the killing of a notorious bandit leader, Batijo, following a recent security operation carried out by security agencies in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi, also disclosed that the body of the notorious terrorist, Ibrahim Battijo, was recovered during the operation.

He made this known during an interview on Channels Television monitored by our correspondent, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminality in Kogi State.

According to the commissioner, the operation led to the neutralisation of Batijo and several members of his gang who were involved in attacks across the state. He added that security personnel have continued to recover the bodies of suspected terrorists following the confrontation.

“We were able to neutralize Batijo and a good number of terrorists who carried out that operation. As I speak, between 15 and 20 bodies of terrorists have been recovered,” Femi stated.

The commissioner noted that the successful operation reflects the commitment of the Kogi State Government and security agencies to tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property across the state.

The development comes amid intensified security operations targeting criminal hideouts and networks in various parts of Kogi State.

Authorities have maintained that collaboration among conventional security agencies, intelligence operatives, and local vigilante groups remains crucial to efforts aimed at curbing terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in the state.

Residents have been urged to continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing operations against criminal elements.
