No Hope for Heartland as team bids bye to NPFL despite burning close to N1bn this season

Except a last minute miracle happens, Heartland would today be bidding bye to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after the home game against Kwara United.

The Naze Millionaires who have since turned to a “financially Kwashiorkored” side literally booked their place in NNL when they fell away last week to Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna.

The Kaduna encounter was one in which Heartland scored a late goal in the 86th minute only to concede two quick goals in the 90th and 92nd minutes to drop the vital points that would have saved them from going on relegation.

A top official of the club who pleaded anonymity told newstap.com.ng that the team lost to fatigue haven arrived Kaduna only few hours to the all-important match.

The players were said to have left Owerri for Kaduna on Friday afternoon and slept on the way only to hit Kaduna late on Saturday on the eve of the encounter without training for two days.

“If we had done a few things early including the logistics against Tornadoes we wouldn’t have been where we are today. It is like we waited until evening to do what we were supposed to do in the morning,” he said while writhing in pains over the club’s poor run
