Another NHL thriller arrives on the morning of Monday 28 March, as the Maple Leafs take on the Panthers (1am LIVE on ESPN).

The Leafs’ John Tavares has spoken about how he needs to harness his emotions better: “Sometimes it can be good to let it out, but obviously other times you don’t want to let it get in your way,” Tavares explained. “Important to manage that correctly, and I still think I can do a better job putting [my] focus on that next shift and next opportunity, knowing there’s a lot of game to be played and lots of time to make a difference – and not just offensively.”

The morning of Sunday 27 March sees back-to-back Major League Soccer (MLS) action, with Charlotte FC hosting FC Cincinnati, before Real Salt Lake head to Sporting Kansas City (11pm and 1am LIVE on ESPN). Sunday night then features more MLS thrill and spills, with Orlando City visiting the Portland Timbers (10pm LIVE on ESPN).

Timbers coach Giovanni Savarese has warned his team of the threat posed by their upcoming opponents, noting that he expects an improvement from their recent results. “There’s always ways to get better, there’s no such thing as a perfect team,” said Savarese. “We need to maintain high standards in training and translate that to each and every match… our opponents won’t give anything away.”

Fans of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Football League (NFL) will be able to get all the latest news and views from the leagues with live airings of ‘NBA Today’ and ‘NFL Live’ at 8pm and 9pmrespectively from Monday 28 to Thursday 31 March LIVE on ESPN.

The first live action on ESPN 2 features ‘Sweet 16’ games from the NCAA Basketball Men’s First Division knockout competition, also known as ‘March Madness’ running from the evening on Friday 25 to early morning on Saturday 26 March (8pm – 5am LIVE on ESPN 2).

The ‘March Madness’ action continues on the mornings of Sunday 27 and Monday 28 March (1am LIVE on ESPN 2), as the best College basketball teams from around the United States battle for ultimate glory.

North Carolina’s legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski recently had his last home game in charge of Duke and shrugged off the fact that it was a defeat to end the Regular Season – hoping that greater things await in the knockouts. “I’m glad this is over,” Krzyzewski said. “Let’s just coach and see what happens in the tournaments. It’s been a surreal few days.”

Basketball is not the only feature on ESPN 2 this week, with a pair of live National Hockey League (NHL) clashes on the mornings of Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 March, with the Capitals v Hurricanes (1am LIVE on ESPN 2) and Penguins v Rangers (1am LIVE on ESPN 2) respectively.

The Rangers will once again look to goalie Igor Shesterkin to continue the great form he has enjoyed so far in the 2021-22 season. He’s been unbelievable,” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said, while New Jersey Devils Coach Lindy Ruff also praised the player after a recent clash between the teams in which New York came out 3-1 winners.

“Shesterkin had a great game,” Devils coach Lindy Ruff said. “He made some high-quality saves. It was a game where he shut us down on some real good looks. We played as solid as we could play.”
