World, Arts, Culture and Tourism Congress, Effiong Nyong says that all arrangements are being put in place to ensure a successful event when the programmes comes up later in the year in Oshogbo, the Osun State Capital
The unveiling of the maiden edition of the first of it’s kind congress will hold on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Oshogbo with the Osun State Governor, senator Ademola Adeleke as Chief host and Nyong believes that the congress will afford Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora opportunity to witness variety of cultures, arts, music, drama , dance and sports.
According to the veteran journalist, although many people might liken the congress to ‘FESTAC 77’ but the difference is that while ‘FESTAC’ was all about dance and music, the forthcoming congress will present varieties of culture, arts, music, drama, dance and sports in one week that the event will hold.
” I can tell you that the Congress is on course and right now, about 53 countries have indicated interest to be part of the epoch making Congress.A whole lot of things are going to be on display by various countries throughout the weeklong event.
” There’s going to be drama, music, arts, dance, cultural displays, grassroots football, athletics and boxing as a way of mobilizing the people.
“I can also tell you that Osun State Government under the able leadership of Governor, Ademola Adeleke has done so well in supporting the idea in making sure we have something to cheer about because it’s about time we exploit our cultural differences to build global peace and unity.
Nyong further noted that the Congress will afford Africans both at home and in the Diaspora an opportunity to celebrate their own here in Nigeria as well as provide the basic platform for humanity to be together in a leisure atmosphere to be able to see what networking can be done for the promotion of global peace and harmony.
” There’s no way we can separate one region from the other, especially those of us from Africa. With this congress, Africans in the Caribbean, United States, United Kingdom and in the Diaspora will have an opportunity to celebrate with their own here in Nigeria.
” The timing of the congress is also important because it will help in attracting local and international attention to our country and make us for once get away from crisis, politics and those things that make us different from one another as a nation.
Nyong, however appealed to corporate organisations to give financial backing to the congress and use it as a platform to leverage upon in making Nigerians and people all over the world to identify with their brands.
He said that President of the Tourism Congress, Prince Yomi Otukoya has assured the World to come to Nigeria; Oshogbo, Osun State to be precise to celebrate humanity in an exciting environment.
