Six Celebrities Unveiled As 5th Dynamite Opens Scrabble Takes Off This Weekend In Agege


Global focus on developmental Scrabble will be on Agege, Lagos as the 5th Dynamite Opens Tournament begins this Saturday with six celebrities as role models, already confirmed for the 2-day event.
The celebrities who will inspire the new entrants as well as students participating in the Inter-Secondary School Scrabble and Spelling Bee competition, will also engage one another in a ceremonial competition of 3 rounds.
Among the celebrities are: Femi “The Champ” Awowade who was the first to win the National Scrabble Championship in 1986 and became an African champion in 1996. He founded the Ibadan Scrabble Club and has written a book on scrabble.
Segun Adegbenro is credited to have introduced the game of scrabble into Nigeria.
Also expected also is Samuel Anikoh the President of Lekki Scrabble Club who has inspired many with his efforts at creating a rich-spread of scrabblers in the country.
Hon. Kamal Oyedunle, an indigene of Agege is a strong grassroots mobilizer who has worked with the youth. He is an advocate of youth development.
Luqmon Molumo, the founder of Heritage Global Academy has seen the direct impact of mind games at school level.
He also understands the impact that mind games plays in the development of a child that’s why he has been a strong advocate of mind games wherever he finds himself.
Seun Oyeleke has successfully regenerated the dynamics around how the game is viewed worldwide as a player. He has seen scrabble as a critical game which gives life tools as a way of navigating career as a professional photographer and an Archer.

After the unveiling, the Chief organiser Khaleel “Dynamite” Adedeji emphasised that the mentorship and the inspiration the participants especially students will get by playing in the same arena, will have a positive impact on their career.

“I’m happy the 5th edition of the Dynamite Opens Scrabble Tournament is happening this weekend at the Agege Local Government Area Office starting this Saturday. It’s been long in planning. To make this edition different, we have included the Inter-Secondary Schools Scrabble and Spelling events as well as the Celebrity Doubles. We intended to have these celebrities as sources of inspiration for some of the participants especially the students in their socio-educational interactions. Scrabble wields so much power. ”
The tournament which is basically designed for players making their entrants into the world of organised scrabble event is also open to players with 0-1199 ranking.
The 18-round tournament is rated by the Nigeria Scrabble Federation.
Cash prizes as well as other gifts will be won at the end of the tournament on Sunday.
