NBB of C to help boxers achieve their potentials – Aboderin

Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C), Remi Aboderin says the various boxing promotions sanctioned by the body is aimed at giving Nigerian fighters opportunity to be ranked by the various professional boxing bodies.
He stated this Sunday at the Lagos Boxing Initiatives championship tagged ‘Pugilists at Work’.
According to him, a boxer like the newly crowned West African Boxing Union Light heavyweight champion, Segun ‘Success ‘ Olanrewaju will have the opportunity of getting recognition from the continental body and will in future be ranked to face the best in his weight category.
” You can see that the NBB of C has raised the bar in professional boxing in the country. Many promoters are now becoming involved in the game and all these fights are aimed at ensuring that our fighters get the opportunity to be ranked by the various boxing bodies as that’s the only way they can have a crack at either the continental, Commonwealth or World titles”, he stressed
Aboderin who advised the country’s boxers to stay off crime, take their training serious and ensure they don’t have unruly fans noted that the sky is their limit once they remain focused and listen to their coaches instructions.
Meanwhile in some of the fights decided, Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju recorded a third round technical knockout over fighting Police Man, Simon Olayinka to become the new West African Boxing Union Light heavyweight champion while Lekan Muibi defeated Sunday ‘Golden Boy’ Ajuwa in the second round to emerge as the new national Light heavyweight champion.
Also Obinna Mathew stopped his opponent, Chidi Eluma in the second round of their 8 rounds national catch weight challenge fight with Kazeem ‘Fear Sam’ Samsondeen beating Isiaka Omo Akin in the second round of their national super welterweight challenge contest just as Soldier Boy, Tosin Osaigbovo recorded a third round technical knockout over Ogunwole Ayorinde in their national Lightweight fight.
The Cruiserweight national challenge fight between Kevin Kpulubu and Joe John went in the favour of the former who beat his opponent in the second round with Alex Rudd Ekhorowa recording another second round technical knockout over Akin Segun in their national Lightweight challenge contest.
In the female category, rising boxer, Ayisat Oriyomi recorded a third round technical knockout over Shade Adeyanju while former amateur boxer who made her professional debut on Sunday, Fadilat Tijani recorded a first round technical knockout over Zainab Bakare .
All the fights were sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C).
