NBB of C seminar kicks off in Lagos, as Aboderin commends De Lads promotions, Osundairo for their support

The three day working boxing seminar for coaches put together by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) in collaboration with De Lads Boxing Promotions and United States of America based Nigerian boxer, Abimbola Osundairo took off on a good note today, Saturday, December, 22 at the Media Centre of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The first day of the seminar, saw
international Referee/ Judge, Belgian Daniel Van De Wiele taking the participants on judges roles in boxing such as scoring, judging and boxing rules ( Dos and Don’ts) in the ring.
His lecture which was both audio and visual gave the coaches a practical example of how to score points and what is expected of them to do when a fight is going on.
The well travelled boxing instructor who have been a referee since 1980 and a WBC referee/ judge since 1993 also took them on some travel tips such as importance of Yellow Fever Vaccination/ Yellow card, validity of international passports, visa application and hotel bookings and locating addresses outside their countries and many more.
At the end of the lecture, there was question and answer season which gave the coaches opportunity to ask some vital questions and answered proffered by the resource person.
The seminar continues tomorrow. There will also be a corner care and professional and handwraps wash workshop to be handled by international technical officer, Coach Yinka Adeoti.
Meanwhile Secretary General of NBB of C, Remi Aboderin has commended Chief Executive Officer of De Lads Boxing Promotions, Alhaji Waheed Wasiu Alabi and Nigeria born United States of America based boxer Abimbola Osundairo for their financial support towards the hosting of the seminar.
“Kudos must go to Alhaji Waheed Wasiu Alabi for paying the flight ticket of the instructor and to Abimbola Osundairo for taking care of his lodging at Sheraton Hotel for five days.
“All these involves a huge amount of money and without these two great Nigerians, we wouldn’t have had this seminar.
” We need more of such support to enable us organise regular seminars because coaches need to be upgrading themselves from time to time and no knowledge acquired is a waste”, concluded Aboderin who also doubles as the President of West African Boxing Union (WABU).
