Nigeria boasts of talented squash players, says American Jiya Desai

A United States of America squash player, Jiya Desai says that Nigerian squash players have a lot of talent and need only improvement in techniques to become better players.
Jiya who accompanied her father, Sam Desai to Nigeria to be part of the just concluded Ex-squash pro in Diaspora championship noted that the country boasts of incredible players with a lot of energy in the racket game.
” I’m highly impressed with what I saw today. The players are incredible and full of energy, they hit the ball well and are focused and only need improvement in their techniques”, began Jiya who was a guest of Chairman of Ex- squash pro in Diaspora, Friday Odeh.
“The game here is exactly the same thing with what is obtainable in the United States but the only difference is equipment and techniques which I hope that once these are taken care of Nigerian players will be a force to be reckoned with globally in the game.
She promised that she will work out the possibility of inviting some of her play mates in the United States to the country during the next edition even as she pledged to donate more equipment to the organisers during the 5th edition which she believes will enhance the development of the game in the country.
Collaborating her daughter, Sam Desai who is visiting Africa with her daughter for the first time, explained that they are excited with the enthusiasm shown by the kids and their knowledge of the rules of the game.
According to him,they enjoyed their stay in the country positing that from their observation, Nigerians are very happy and hospitable people.
In appreciation of their visit and support to the tournament, she was presented with a plague by the organisers of the tournament.
