FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier: Iheanacho saves Eagles against Zimbabwe

Kelechi Iheanacho saved the Super Eagles from conceding what would have been an embarrassing defeat in the hands of Zimbabwe today in a match played in Rwanda.

Iheanacho scored a 65th minute equaliser after Zimbabwe took a first half lead.

Zimbabwe’s goal came from a free kick which goalkeeper Uzoho failed to deal with.

With the result, Eagles now walk a tight rope in the group that has South Africa, Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Eagles had in their first game played out a disappointing 1-1 draw against lowly rated Lesotho in Uyo.
