Imo labour crisis: NLC moves to stop flights in and out of Owerri

By George Aluo

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has moved to stop flights in and out of Owerri.

NLC in a letter to the Lagos State Council of the body charged it to ensure no flights leave Lagos from Owerri as part of measures to enforce the strike against Hope Uzodimma’s government.

The letter signed by Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja reads in part…”you are kindly requested to work with TUC and other affiliates, especially those in the aviation sector to ensure that no flights leave the Lagos airport to Owerri starting from 12 midnight today (May 2.)”

It would be noted that organized labour has accused Imo state government of using thugs to disrupt May Day celebrations in Owerri where the state government in a release claimed workers in the state had endorsed Uzodimma for second term.
