2027: Engr. Agube joins NDC House of Reps race for Aboh-Ngor constituency

The number of aspirants for the 2027 general elections continue to swell, Engr. Patrick Agube has declared his interest in the race for Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC ticket for the House of Representatives seat of Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in Imo State.
Agube, in a statement made available to our correspondent in Owerri Friday, asserted that he is not merely aspiring for a political ticket but an opportunity to diligently serve and salvage the federal constituency.
The American-based Engineer, stated that he is coming on board to bring experience, preparation and giving back to the people back home.
He noted that his story is one of preparation, enterprise, competence, global exposure, local commitment and of a man who has built, trained, managed, led, and delivered without blemish.
He explained that his entrance into the race is not driven by sheer ambition or personal aggrandisement but to raise and answer the question, ‘why not us?’ regarding good governance and impactful representation at National Assembly, NASS.
Engr. Agube’s declaration read, “Distinguished leaders and members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, respected party faithful, elders, women, youths, and the good people of Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency:
“Today, I stand before you not merely as an aspirant seeking a political ticket, but as a son of the soil carrying a burden, a vision, and a responsibility.
“My name is Engr. Patrick Agube, and my story is not just about certificates, titles, businesses, or professional accomplishments. My story is about preparation. It is about experience. It is about service. It is about turning opportunity into impact. And above all, it is about bringing home what I have learned across the world to serve the people who matter most to me.
“I have had the privilege of building businesses, managing projects, training professionals, creating opportunities, and working across critical sectors such as technology, oil and gas, construction, procurement, logistics, infrastructure, and workforce development. I have worked in Nigeria. I have worked in the United States. I have seen how communities grow when leaders plan, execute, and connect their people to real opportunities.
“But the more I saw development elsewhere, the more one question kept troubling my heart: Why not us? Why should our youths travel far before they can find meaningful opportunities? Why should our women struggle without the right support for their businesses? Why should our communities have the human talent, land, airport access, and commercial potential, yet remain underdeveloped?
“Why should Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala not become a center of technology, logistics, investment, agriculture, manufacturing, and innovation? That question — why not us? — is the reason I am here.
“I am not entering this race because politics is attractive. I am entering because our constituency is too blessed to remain ordinary. We have people with intelligence. We have hardworking youths. We have women with entrepreneurial strength. We have fertile land. We have strategic access through the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport corridor. We have families who believe in education, dignity, and hard work.
“What we need now is representation that can connect these assets to opportunity. I come prepared for that assignment.
Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States, and an MBA in Information Technology from the United States. Beyond these, I have earned globally recognized certifications in project management, cybersecurity, governance, cloud computing, leadership, risk management, and information systems.
“But let me say this clearly: certificates alone do not build roads. Titles alone do not create jobs. Degrees alone do not reduce poverty. What matters is what a person can do with knowledge.
“I have seen young people who once doubted themselves become confident professionals because somebody opened a door for them. That is the kind of door I want to open for our constituency.
“I am offering myself to the Nigeria Democratic Congress as a candidate who can represent the values of a new generation of leadership; leadership driven by competence, technology, accountability, execution, and genuine love for the people.
“I am not coming to learn leadership from the beginning. I am coming with experience. I am not coming to make empty promises. I am coming with a practical development vision.
“I am not coming to represent only a political structure. I am coming to represent people ; our fathers, our mothers, our youths, our children, our traders, our farmers, our professionals, our communities, and our future.”
