Federal lawmaker, Attorney Nwogu, assures implementation of projects in 2024 budget

The lawmaker representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Attorney Matthew Irondi Nwogu, has assured his constituents of the implementation of infrastructural projects in the area captured in the 2024 budget.

Dr Nwogu gave the assurance Saturday while addressing a mammoth crowd that turned out during his maiden constituency briefing to mark his one year in office, held at Central School playground, Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State.

The federal legislator disclosed that he attracted developmental projects worth over N1.5billion, all captured in the 2024 budget, to Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency and the projects will kick-off immediately the current budget is funded.

Attorney Nwogu stated that he had sponsored no fewer than 15 bills and 13 motions within his one year in the House of Representatives as well as co- sponsored several others to ensure quality life for the people of his constituency, Imo State and Nigeria, in general.

He also hinted that he had ensured the completion of some abandoned projects in the exercise of his oversight functions as well as empowered scores of his constituents via employment into public service, sponsorship of WAEC and JAMB candidates, business funding etc.

He used the occasion to announce his intentions to institute a scholarship scheme for 100 university students in the federal constituency pointing out that he has restored the glory of Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala in the National Assembly, NASS, within the period under review.

Speaking earlier, the member representing Owerri federal constituency, Hon. Tony Okere described Attorney Nwogu as a strong and respected voice in the lower chamber of NASS, and urged the people to continue to support him.

According to him, the large crowd that turned out to witness the event is a testimony that the people actually voted massively for Nwogu and are still behind him.

In his remark, the state chairman of Labour Party, LP, in Imo State, Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa applauded Hon Nwogu’s impressive performance in just one year and urged him not to relent.

He declared that LP in Imo is happy that it gave Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala constituency a quality personality like Attorney Nwogu and the people embraced the offer by electing him into the federal house.

Representative of the Umuohiagu traditional institution, Chief Uju Madu, in his contribution described Hon. Nwogu as a worthy son of the soil, and the community has no doubt that he would do exploits as a lawmaker.

The epochal event was attended by traditional rulers from Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala LGAs, political heavyweights in the area across party lines, Bishop Geoffrey Okoroafor of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Catholic priests and others, women groups among others.

Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of countless bags of rice being palliative offered by the Federal Government to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal at the dawn of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
