Ikorodu City Football Club will kick off their campaigns for honours in the 2025/2026 NPFL season with an away game against current President Federation Cup champions, Kwara United.
The Oga Boys will tackle the Afonja Warriors at the Ilorin township stadium, in what football pundits have described as a mouth-watering encounter.
It could be recalled that the darling team of Lagos soccer fans recently parted ways on mutual consent with its head coach Nurudeen Aweroro who has joined 3SC football club of Ibadan.
Unfazed, the club have reappointed its former handler Bright Ozagbabe, who promoted the club to the NPFL two seasons ago, before he was sacked by the management. Now, the highly regarded tactician is back at the helms to lead the team’s charge for honours on all fronts.
Ahead of the new season, Ikorodu City management has reportedly recruited and bolstered its playing ranks with top quality young players and also promoted a few from its academy team that just won promotion to the NNL.
Last season, the team narrowly missed qualifying for the continent as it came fourth on the league table and also lost out in the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup.
And expectations are high as fans and lovers of the team are looking forward to a better and fruitful season from their darling team.
