Uzodimma urges unity, discipline as APC prepares for primaries, polls

Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State to remain united, disciplined, and focused as the Party prepares for forthcoming her primaries and general elections.

Addressing stakeholders at the Party Secretariat in Owerri, the Governor congratulated the newly inaugurated State executive, expressing confidence in their ability to reposition the Party for greater success.

He said the meeting was convened to strengthen unity, engage leaders, and strategise ahead of the polls.

Uzodimma noted that with many aspirants jostling for positions, loyalty to the Party must take precedence. “For every position, only one person will emerge. Your commitment to the Party is paramount,” he said, warning against actions that could undermine cohesion.

He stressed the need for the APC to manage its success responsibly, adding that the Party must justify the confidence reposed in it by the people through effective coordination and grassroots strength.

The Governor also reaffirmed the “Charter of Equity” as a guiding principle for fairness and political balance, explaining that equitable power rotation among zones would promote stability, peace, and development in the state.

Expressing optimism about the Party’s chances, he said the APC remains the dominant political force in Imo and could win all elections if unity is sustained.

He urged members to embrace sacrifice, faith, and patience, noting that “power ultimately comes from God.”

He then charged Party leaders to remain steadfast, assuring them that “victory is our portion” if the Party stays united.

Earlier in his welcome address, the new Imo State APC Chairman, Chief Augustine Onyedebelu thanked stakeholders for honouring the meeting, the first since his executive officers were elected, and reiterated the need for collective efforts to make the Party even stronger.

Onyedebelu expressed gratitude on behalf of his team to the stakeholders for finding them worthy of piloting the affairs of the Party in Imo State and promised not to disappoint them.

The meeting was attended by critical stakeholders of the Party, among them aspirants for different elective offices in the forthcoming general elections.
