Basketball: FIBA ban imminent -Enugu basketball scribe

By George Aluo

Secretary of Enugu state basketball association, Osondu Ngwude has warned that he won’t be surprised if FIBA hammer falls on Nigeria.
Ngwude in a chat with newstap.com.ng noted that the decision to stop the NBBF election and the subsequent sidelining of the Musa Kida led board are breaches which FIBA would definitely frown at, even as he charged the sports ministry to thread with caution and allow the game to be run in line with the sports federation’s constitution.
“By the grace of God I am the secretary of the Enugu State basketball association and the South East coordinator and I can tell you categorically we are scared of FIBA ban because we can see it coming with the way and manner the ministry has pushed aside the NBBF board.
The stakeholders met and agreed that the election should go as planned but the ministry interfered and now they have gone ahead to run the affairs of the NBBF that has an existing constitution ratified by the World governing body FIBA and you tell me they will not bite.”
Continuing, Ngwude stated that one thing nobody can dispute is the fact that Kida did well in the four years that he was in charge as NBBF president.
“Nigeria did well in the last four years in basketball churning out amazing results. And Kida spent his money for us to achieve this. Whoever wants to take over should show interest and allow basketball stakeholders decide in an election.”
