Africa Youth Cup 2020: Brazil’s Flamengo, Ronaldo’s home town club, Madeira are early birds

Things are looking good for the second edition of the Africa Youth Cup-Cape Verde 2020 as two prominent clubs, Flamengo of Brazil and CS Madeira from Criatiano Ronaldo’s home town in Portugal have concluded arrangements to feature in the tournament.
Organizers of the event which is fast becoming Africa’s foremost international youth soccer tournament, Serahanasports are currently in Praia, Cabo Verde for ongoing preparations for the 2020 edition.
Newstap.com.ng gathered that there is excitement in the air in Praia for the second edition of the tournament billed for next summer.
Cape Verdeans are still talking about the success of the maiden edition which saw the presence of the great Benfica of Portugal and some of the best academies from Africa. In 2020 however, evidence of great progress reaping from the success of the maiden edition has been noticed in the fact that almost all the teams who took part are coming back again.
The champions from the Ivory Coast, Volcan Junior academy and Deportivo football academy are coming back.
From Nigeria, the runner up Pawas football academy, and several other academies have shown serious interest to attend the 2020 edition. More teams are expected from Nigeria now that there is a direct flight from Nigeria to Cape Verde.
From Ghana a new entrant is Finic academy of Finic Sports Development and from Zambia is Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy. Teams from the USA and Holland including Colombia and Cameroun have also shown serious interest.
“We are convinced that the tournament will receive more teams next year. It should be noted that the MVP of the maiden edition was spotted, scouted and went to Sporting Clube Portugal after the tournament,” the organizers said in a statement.
