It was another glorious night for Nigerian football as Super Falcons defeated South Africa 4-3 on penalties to win her 9th Awcon title.
The victory was a special birthday gift for NFF president Amaju Melvin Pinnick who was celebrating his 48th birthday.
Falcons had in the semi finals also won on penalties against hard fighting Cameroon.
The trio of Nigeria, South Africa and Cameroon would fly Africa’s flag in next year’s World Cup in France.
The NFF had before the final pledged a$10,000 special bonus to the Falcons.
Not many Nigerians gave the girls a chance in the competition especially after they lost their very first game of the tournament to South Africa.
