Former Nigerian Squash No.1 Moses Olubo Set for Heroic Return to Nigeria on Can-Am Spyder
Former Nigerian squash number one, Moses Olubo, is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday after embarking on an extraordinary transcontinental adventure aboard a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle.
Olubo’s remarkable journey has taken him from the United States through Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia and Western Europe before crossing the Sahara and navigating the challenging Fouta Jallon Highlands on his way to Nigeria.
The former squash star is expected to receive a hero’s welcome from friends, sports enthusiasts and supporters at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, where a Meet and Greet has been scheduled for 2pm on Wednesday, August 26.
Organisers described Olubo as a “3-Continent Adventurer”, highlighting the scale of his journey and the determination required to complete the demanding motorcycle expedition.
His arrival time has been difficult to predict because of the challenges encountered while riding through Ghana on a motorcycle that is not registered under the ECOWAS system.
As of Tuesday, Olubo was reportedly working to complete his exit from Ghana, with the final stretch to Lagos expected to be relatively straightforward.
The adventure has generated excitement among his friends and admirers, who are calling on Nigerians, particularly members of the sporting community, to turn out at the National Stadium and give the former squash No.1 a memorable reception.
The Meet and Greet is expected to provide an opportunity for sports lovers to reconnect with Olubo and celebrate an adventurous journey that has combined sport, endurance and exploration across three continents.
Organisers have also apologised for the short notice, explaining that the unpredictable nature of the journey made it difficult to confirm the exact date and time of his arrival in advance.
