Heartland’s kit saga: We may hit the court before you, Imo Sports Comm tells Ekwueme

By George Aluo

Imo State Sports Commissioner, Dan Ogu has dismissed as spurious claims by the club’s former Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme that the club is owing him over N21m.

Ekwueme had over the weekend threatened to drag the crisis ridden club to court if he does not get paid in the days ahead.

Reacting to Ekwueme’s threat, Ogu in a chat with newstap.com.ng said the club is not owing the Ex international a dime, even as he added that it is Ekwueme that is actually owing the club after failing to supply kits for which he has been paid over N7m before the start of the season.

“Don’t mind him…Ask Ekwueme which management is owing him…We ordered for jerseys worth over N7m and he is yet to supply the kits…”

Newstap.com.ng further gathered the club management may in fact drag Ekwueme to court over the kits saga.

“We may even drag him to court before he (Ekwueme) thinks about getting a lawyer to file his case,” a member of the club’s management said.

It would be noted that embattled club which in their heyday were known as Naze Millionaires (now Owerri Thousanaires) are in the relegation zone of the NPFL log. The club in their last home game could only secure a point against visiting FC IfeanyiUbah.
