Ikeja Metro Lions Club installs new President, inducts new members

One of the most vibrant clubs in Lions Club District 404B2, Nigeria, Ikeja Metro Lions Club, last Sunday rolled out the drums to install it’s 21st President and club officials for the 2022/2023 Lions year. It also witnessed the induction of new members.

NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja attracted family members, business associates, friends and well wishers of the new President, Godson Ikechukwu Anigbo (PMJF, NLCF) as well as distinguished personalities from all works of life who took turn to extol Lions Club for its global leadership in philanthropy
In her speech, the guest speaker Mrs. Modupe Oyekunle of Master Piece Resource Development Centre described the new President as a humble and unassuming young man who is passionate about helping the poor and needy positing that she is confident his tenure will be an eventful one.
” I’ve known Godson Anigbo for a very long time now. He is a humble and unassuming young man who is very passionate about helping the poor and needy and I have no doubt in my mind that he will be successful in his new role.
Oyekunle who also doubles as National Coordinator Association of Nigerian Women in Business Network appealed to Nigerians to always extend financial support to the Lions Club to enable them carry out their humanitarian duties unhindered which is aimed at giving hope to the less privileged in the society; saying that by helping the poor, we’re making the society a better place.
Performing the installation/ induction ceremony, District Governor of the Club Lion (Aare) Lekan Owolabi MJF, NLCF congratulated the new President on his position, reminding him of the need to surpass the achiement of his predecessor.
‘ The decision of your members to elect you as their 21st President is based on the confidence they have on your. In carrying out your duties, you must run an all inclusive government without neglecting the five basic duties of the club as well as strive to surpass the record of your predecessor
The District Governor also urged the new executive to always work towards raising funds to carry out their numerous activities reminding them that the club is all about philanthropy.
While commending the organisers for putting up a colourful and hitch event Aare Owolabi charged newly inducted members to live up to expectation and be ready to help humanity which is the basic aim of Lions Club.
An overwhelmed Anigbo told newstap.com that he is grateful to all those that made the event successful, promising that he will not fail but work towards surpassing the records of his predecessors.
He announced that his immediate priority will be renovation of intensive care unit of Gbagada General Hospital.
“My priority project is renovation of intensive care unit of Gbagada General Hospital. When we visited the hospital, we discovered they don’t have a functional intensive care unit. And I was touched when the Doctor on duty complained that most times patients die while taking them to Ikeja and I was moved and decided we must embark on that project, make sure the place is well equipped and conducive for emergency patients..
” You also know that in Lions Club, we have our five core service areas which are; Diabetics, Feeding the hunger, Vision, Childhood cancer and environment. We’ve done several projects in that regard. We carried out cataract surgery for ten patients in October and also Diabetics awareness and next month, we will embark on feeding the hunger in our business meeting area.
Lion Anigbo while acknowledging the importance of funds in achieving a successful tenure explained that they will partner with friends and corporate Nigeria to raise funds even as he promised that all funds raised will be well utilised and accounted for.
