S’Eagles ‘ll get overwhelming support against Angola – Ikpea

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will enjoy overwhelming support when they face Angola in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Abidjan on Friday.

National chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Rev. Sam Ikpea, who gave the assurance via his WhatsApp page, revealed that more members of the club have arrived in Abidjan to boost Super Eagles’ support base ahead of Friday’s clash against the Palancas Negras.

Ikpea noted that with the arrival of more NFSC members in Cote d’Ivoire, arrangement has been made by the leadership of the club to purchase more matchday tickets as the tickets provided by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the club have not been enough.

“Match tickets provided by the NFF for members of the NFSC have not been enough due to the size of members on the ground, the club has therefore resolved to purchase more match tickets from the funds which were initially meant for other expenses and by extension affecting the budget of the club.

“While the Eagles are making adequate preparations, members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club will keep rehearsing to cheer them up when they take on Angola on Friday, Rev. Ikpea said.

He expressed optimism that the three-time African champions will fly over the Palancas Negras.

“NFSC believes that the Super Eagles will beat Angola and reach the semi-final stage as well as the final, that also means that they will be staying in Ivory Coast for another two weeks which means they will need more funds to enable them survive.

Ikpea also acknowledged the support of some corporate individuals and organisations for making their trip to Cote d’Ivoire for the biggest African football fiesta, Afcon 2023 possible.

“Before arriving in Cote d’Ivoire, NFSC got support from several corporate individuals and corporate organisations such as Dr. Olusegun Musa, CEO of Widescope International-makers of Goldberg and Life beer, Demillier Industries-makers of Classic Peanut, Sifax Nigeria Limited amongst others.
“Their support was well appreciated by members as it has gone a long way in helping them sustain their stay in Abidjan since arriving before the Super Eagles first match’, Ikpea said.
