

…National Women’s Team Select For Exhibition match for Nations Cup In Cameroon
The inaugural edition of the Lagos MiniFootball League will come to a befitting end as Larry FC and G. Innovation will go head-to-head in the men’s final while Dream Stars Ladies and Unification Ladies will clash in the women’s final at the Keke Primary School Field Agege on Sunday.
The four finalists rose above their respective oppositions at the semi-final stages to earn their places for a chance to claim the first-ever title at the championships.
The semi-finalists has risen to the top of their respective table after the conclusion of the league phase in the 6-aside tournament.
Last weekend, clinical G. Innovation outscored Mande FC 3-2 to set-up a super-clash against Larry FC who demobilised Motor FC 2-0 in a thrilling face-off.
In the women’s semis, Dream Stars Ladies turned back Phoenix FC 4-1 to keep a date with Unification Ladies who edged Ghetto Tigers 2-1 in a pulsating encounter before a capacity-crowd.
In the third place matches, Mande FC romped to a 7-1 victory over Motor FC while Ghetto Tigers clawed their way past Phoenix FC with a 4-1 result to restore their pride.
Agege Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa who has been giving some strong support to the development of the game as the Lagos MiniFootball Association Chairman is expected to be at the closing ceremony as well as other personalities.
Meanwhile, selected players for the women’s national team will be engaged in an exhibition game ahead of the maiden Africa MiniFootball Confederation (AMC) Nations Cup scheduled for Yaounde, Cameroon from September 30 to October 4 this year.
The Nigeria MiniFootball Association (NMA) has been putting arrangements in place for the country as it seeks for funds to execute it’s plans.
The NMA has resolved to present a quality team capable of winning the tournament and also pick one of the direct tickets to the women’s World Cup.
Nigeria will face Ghana, Guinea and Kenya in Group B while host Cameroon will meet Congo DR, Benin and Sierra Leone in Group A.
