Sports Minister commiserates with families who lost their beloved ones during AFCON semi-final match
Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Ewan Enoh has commiserated with families of those who lost their love ones during the semi-final match between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday night.
A chieftain of the APC and former House of Representatives member, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh who represented Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State reportedly died while watching the match.
Others who equally died includes; Chief Osondu Nwoye, an Anambra State born business man resident in Abidjan, Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University, Molete, Alhaji Ayuba Abdulahi and one Samuel, a Youth Corps member serving in Adamawa State.
They were reported to have slumped and died from the heavy shock after the referee nullified Nigeria’s second goal against South Africa and instead awarded a penalty against Nigeria.
In a condolence messages he personally signed, Senator Enoh noted that it’s heart wrenching and paradoxical that these patriots paid the supreme sacrifice during the hotly contested match which paved the way for the national team to book a ticket in the finals of the continental showpiece.
The Minister prayed that their souls will rest in perfect peace and Almighty God grant the families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
