Professional wrestling is taking shape in Africa, says Olukoya

Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa ( PWA), a body saddled with the responsibility of taking the mats man game to all the countries in the continent, Olusesan Olukoya has expressed happiness that the game is gradually bouncing back to life in the continent.

Olukoya, a wrestling analyst, publisher and administrator noted that the exploits of the body in championing the growth of the sports in Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo and now Benin Republic is an indication that the sports is gradually taking shape in the continent just as he promised that there’ll be no going back in ensuring that the successes recorded is sustained and the sports introduced in more African countries.
” You’re aware that a team of pro- wrestling talents and officials were in Denmark in March and Belgium in July and for the two weeks of the tour, they showcased African professional wrestling with the intention to do more as time goes on.
“Prior to that tour, there was a training programme organised in Togo from March 1-3, 2024 in conjunction with Golden Wrestling Federacy based in Florida, United States under the auspices of Golden Boy Jim McDowell, a world renowned wrestler and dentist which was very successful.

“Right now, meetings are going on between the body and Benin Republic officials on how to inaugurate professional wrestling in that West African country which will serve as a launch pad to take the game to other African countries”, he stressed.

Olukoya expressed hope that with plans put in place by Pro- Wrestling Africa, the sports will soon not only regain it’s position as the most sought after sports after football but will produce talented mats men in the continent who will challenge for titles at the international level.
