Rohr’s Eagles fall again to Algeria
By George Aluo
Reigning African champions, Algeria again proved too much for the Super Eagles in friday night’s international friendly winning by a lone goal.
Ramy Bensebaini struck early in the game, precisely in the 6th minute for the Algerians with the goal turning out to be the only goal of the night.
Algeria thereafter had better opportunities to increase the tally but for the brilliance of Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye who had a good game.
Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr in the second half brought in his more experienced players in the trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon and skipper Ahmed Musa but they all failed to shine as the North Africans continued to dominate play and proved more organised.
It would be recalled that Algeria defeated the Super Eagles by a lone goal in the semi final of last year’s AFCON in Egypt on their way to lifting the trophy.
Eagles would Tuesday night face Tunisia in another international friendly while Algeria lock horns with Mexico.
