IMO COMMISSIONER FOR SPORTS, DAN OGU CONGRATULATES HEARTLAND QUEENS ON AITEO CUP QUARTER-FINAL QUALIFICATION

Imo state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu congratulates Heartland Queens Fc of Owerri after securing a spot in the quarterfinal of the AITEO CUP 2022.
Heartland Queens reached the last eight of the competition after defeating Dannaz Ladies of Lagos 2-1 at the Warri City Stadium on Thursday evening.
Hon. Ogu celebrates the achievement of the Owerri Landladies as they set up a mouthwatering clash against Delta Queens.
“I applaud the indomitable spirit of our ladies, I congratulate the coaches, the management, Imolites and Nigerians who have shown goodwill and support to the team. This is heartwarming as you have made yourselves and Ndi Imo proud,” Ogu asserted.
The Sports Chief has challenged the team to sustain the winning streak and eventually emerge champions of the age long competition, saying that it would undoubtedly bring more smiles to the faces of Imolites.
“While celebrating this quarter-final qualification, let me urge you to do a little more. Win your next game and those after it and you will be the queens of Nigerian football,” Ogu said.
The Commissioner further reassured that the welfare of the team is paramount to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration and they will continue prioritise sports development as a way of curbing criminal activities among the youths
He said that sports, especially football, has been one of the unifying factors in Imo state, hence the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development would strive to ensure the team thrive and excel nationally to enable the them participate in continental football competitions.
Hon. Ogu also called for support from every stakeholder to ensure the team keeps progressing and doing the state proud.
