NPFL: Heartland suffer scandalous defeat after Obi’s plea for forgiveness

By Ifeanyi Eduzor

Heartland today suffered a humiliating 1-5 defeat at home against Plateau United in what clearly confirmed that all is not still well in the club.

The encounter is one the club prosecuted under a rancorous atmosphere in camp.

But coach of the side Christian Obi had before the game pleaded with everybody for reconciliation even as he urged fans of the club to storm Awka to support the team.

It would be noted that the club’s General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu had accused some top management staff of sabotage adding that the saboteurs had gone as far as using fetish means (juju) to work against the team.

Another management staff, Nzeh Tonex Chukwu while dismissing the allegation described Nwachukwu’s allegations as laughable and embarrassing.

Heartland with the defeat to Plateau are gradually confirming its journey to the NNL come next season. They had before today’s tie also failed to win against Pillars.

The Naze millionaires as the club is fondly called are seating ‘comfortably’ at the bottom of the NPFL table with 18 points.
