Defending champions of NSF Inter Club Challenge, Pyramid SC fail to book semi- final ticket

The defending champions of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation Inter Club Challenge, Pyramid SC of Lagos dream and goal of finishing on the medal bracket at the 2025 edition of the competition is up in flames.
Pyramid SC, one of the biggest and dominant force in club scrabble in Nigeria failed to cross the gruelling group stage of the ongoing finals in the ancient city of Benin, Edo State,
They finished third in Group B dominated by newcomers Gateway SC that is loaded to the hilt with powerful and talented players like Oluwatimilehin Doko, Abdulmumin Jimoh, Cyril Umebiye David Ojih and Hakeem Ogundokun.
Central Scrabble Club A of Abuja under the stewardship of Francis Molokwu are second on the table and advanced to the last four alongside Continental Champions Oluwatimilehin Doko inspired Gateway SC. PHC Club from Rivers State are first from the bottom in Group B.
One of the finest scrabble gems in the blue and white colours of Pyramid SC, John Aiyedun, told our correspondent that they lost to two teams that were imperial on the day.
“We will be back and better next season, no excuse, sometimes you win some and lose some. We will work on our weaknesses to get back, better, bigger and stronger next year.”
Former NSF Green Jacket holder Dipo Akanbi, who is the skipper of Pyramid also share similar sentiment with John Aiyedun, saying, it’s not possible to win all the time.
“It was a bad day in the office for us. Scrabble in Nigeria is very competitive, so any team or player can be beaten no matter how good you are.”
Ayo Akinfemisoye, Femi Simpson and Bright Uzu are the other jewel of Pyramid SC in Benin City for the NSF Inter Club finals.
PHC Club, CSCA B and Pyramid are the teams that failed to reach the Semi finals.
