2023: PDP Campaign DG Woos Imo Hausa Community to Support Atiku

Ahead of the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections, Hon. Greg C. Egu, the Director General, DG, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, in Imo State, has reached out to the teeming Hausa Community in the state in continuation of his drive for massive votes for Atiku/Okowa ticket in the coming polls.
The DG who visited the Hausa community at the weekend, in company of his team and several support groups, with the intention to secure their support for the PDP also paid homage to the Sarkin Hausa, HRH Alhaji Auwal Baba Sulaiman at his palace at Ama Hausa in the State Capital.
Speaking at occasion, Hon. Egu told te Sarkin Hausa that they were on the visit to seek the support and votes of the entire Hausa Community in the state for the Presidential Candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa as well as other candidates of the opposition party in this February 25 polls.
Addressing a large crowd of Hausa leaders, youths, women and traders in a rally shortly after meeting an interface with the Sarkin, the DG informed his audience that Atiku and Okowa are determined and ready to win the coming election and will rescue Nigeria and Nigerians from the economic woes and uplift her to the ‘Development hub of Africa.’
Egu, a former member of the House of Representatives for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency (1999-2003) asserted that Atiku has the competence to salvage considering his experience as a former vice president for two terms.
He posited that since Alhaji Atiku had used his position before as Vice President, to reposition the nation’s economy, it is only but proper to support him because he will do much better now if elected as president given his wealth of experience in politics and public service.
His words, “Atiku Abubakar remains the only candidate with exceptional national exposure and unbeatable records of economic, and socio-political mastery. I appeal to you to be part of the history of making him Nigeria’s President come this February 25.
Chief Egu urged the Hausa Community to shun the failed All Progressives Congress, APC, and its propagandists in the next elections and enjoined them to demonstrate their displeasure over current hike in prices of staple food items, fuel, failure of the banking system, ravaging inflation with its attendant hardship on the citizenry by voting for PDP.
He remarked that the Hausa community in Imo State have remained very important agents of change over the years and advised them to join hands with the PDP to send APC out of office, and save all and sundry from further excruciating hardship.
Speaking earlier, the Southeast PDP Organizing Secretary and Field Operations Officer of PCC, Hon Mike Ahumibe urged them not to allow the ample opportunity of electing a credible person to lead the country elude them and other Nigerians.
He advised them to rally round the PDP candidate to guarantee security, peace, unity and cooperation of all ethnic groups in the country.
In his response, HRH Alhaji Sulaiman commended Hon Egu and his team for the honour done him by the visit and urged them not to relent or be discouraged in the effort to rescue and rebuild the country.
He explained that his role as a traditional ruler of the Hausa Community is to offer prayers for God’s blessings to individuals of different political groups aspiring to help in reducing the poverty level in the country stressing that he is non-partisan and will continue to remain so..
Sulaiman expressed dismay over the way Nigerians have continued to suffer untold hardship occasioned by severe poverty coupled with unending insecurity and advised the PDP not to renege on its from campaign promises when voted into power by the masses.
