NOC Admin Course holds in Umuahia

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), has announced that it will be organising a Sports Administration Course for its members in collaboration with the Abia State Sports Council

 According to a statement by the Olympic body signed by it’s Public Relations Officer Tony Nezieanya, the course will run from Wednesday, Nov. 13 to Friday Nov. 15, 2024, at State Sports Council, Umuahia, , from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

The statement explained that the initiative is part of the International Olympic Committee’s educational programmes through Olympic Solidarity and the National Olympic Committee which aims to equip sports administrators with the essential knowledge and tools to drive change and improvement within their sports organizations. 

It further stated that the course is also designed to help stakeholders develop and maintain robust and sustainable administrative structures that can deliver the necessary support to athletes and sports administrators.

The course will cover topics based on the Olympic Solidarity Sports Manual, including:

• Principles, Structure, and Leadership of the Olympic Movement

• The Olympic Games

• Athletes at the Heart of the Olympic Movement

• Management and Promotion of Olympic Values and Sports

The NOC noted that this edition will target stakeholders from State Sports Councils/Commissions and Higher Institutions just as it stated that the programme will be delivered both onsite and virtually, anchored by two International Olympic Committee Certified National Course Directors, 

It listed some of the invited speakers to include; Mr. Nweri Emmanuel Dr. (Mrs) Esther Oluwatoyin Aluko and Chidobi Deborah Project officer.
Others are; Prof. Fasan Clement, Programme Director of IOC Advanced Sports Management Course, Dr. Akin Amao, Former Chairman NOC Medical & Scientific Commission, Prof. Dominic Leah Funmilayo of University of Ilorin, Prof. Abiodun Moronfolu, Lagos State University, Mr. Kweku Tandoh, Former Chairman Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oyebode Oluseyi CEO Dynaspro Sports Academy and Dr. Rasheed Oyhikire, Deputy Dean.

The course would be coordinated by an NOC under Secretary, Mrs. Deborah Chidobi while the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel will declare open the workshop.
