Handball event at the ongoing Niger Delta Games, is becoming more interesting with some impressive results recorded at Day 2 of the tournament.
In the men category, Imo State with good defensive work and striking form, defeated Akwa Ibom State by 23 -14 in a match which was full of action and good handball artistery
Speaking shortly after the game, Coach of Imo State, Cletus Ogueri Emeanna expressed happiness with the performance of his team with a declaration that they will take other states to the cleaners as they aim for top podium finish at the Games.
“My boys played to instruction. Although they missed many scoring chances, but we shall get it right as the tournament progresses.
In his own remarks, Coach of Akwa Ibom State acknowledged that his team played against a better side but was quick to add that they’ll make amends in their next game.
Also, the game between Edo State and Rivers ended with the host recording a 25-17 victory over their opponents
The first half of the keenly contested game ended 11-10 in favour of Edo State. However on the resumption of the second half, the host state came back strongly, tightening their defence and improving their strike force which helped them win the match 25-17.
In the women category , Ondo white washed Rivers 28-4 in a one sided game.
