NNL Chairman, Aluo Commends Osun State Police Command For Security At Osun United v Sporting Lagos Match

Nigeria National League Chairman George Aluo has given a high commendation to the Osun State Police Command for providing adequate security at the Lanre Leke Stadium Ile-Ogbo.
Ogunseye Media Aide of NNL Chairman George Aluo who closely monitored proceedings of the match reports that officers of the Osun State command were efficient as they gave a good conduct before, during and after the tension-soaked Conference B encounter between Osun United and Sporting Lagos on Thursday in the South-West derby.
The match expectedly generated attention as the Lagosians chased the maximum points on offer for a guaranteed promotion to the Nigeria Football Premier League at the away ground.
Osun United who struggled in the season were angling to end their disappointing campaign on a high before their partisan crowd.
Such atmosphere was expected to attract tension and possible break down of law and order but the men-of-the-law would have none of it as they maintained composure in the face of high emotions.
“It’s imperative I give some high commendation to the Osun State Police Command led by the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan for the way they maintained law and order during our match between Osun United and Sporting Lagos.
We understand the huge nature of the game and it’s implications for the teams playing that’s why we requested for their service and we are glad with the way they handled the situation before, during and after the match. Their professionalism is quite commendable,” said Aluo.
The NNL boss was also full of praise for the Match Commissioner of the game Olalekan Adeniji for the way he coordinated affairs all through the game.
“Adeniji was firm from get go. I was personally in touch with him before the start of the game and he ensured everything went well in line with the laws of the game. That is the kind of Match Commissioner we need for the growth of our domestic football in line with the vision of NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau,” Aluo stated.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors Sporting Lagos who have now confirmed their promotion to the elite division.
