Abia Group rallies support for Nwaogu’s senatorial bid

Ahead of 2027 political dispensation, a renowned socio-political women organization, Nzuko Umuada Abia State, has applauded the sterling leadership qualities of Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, even as they endorsed her aspiration to re-represent Abia State central senatorial zone in the Red Chambers of the national assemblies.
Recalled that Nwaogu was a former member of the national assembly and also an ersewhile Pro-chancellor and chairman, Governing council of the Federal University of Calabar, Cross River State.
Nzuko Umuada Abia, whose membership is drawn from six local government areas that formed Abia Central Senatorial district of the State, in a statement on Friday, hailed Nwaogu’s political resilience and commitment to nation-building.
The statement by the women group, was signed by Lady Catherine Nwanoruo, and Mrs. Nancy Nzomuche, the President and Secretary General respectively.
They noted that the distinguished Senator’s invaluable contributions towards deepening democracy in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized, and further observed that the recent past national lawmaker has remained unwavering in her pursuit of gender equality in the State and Nigeria at large.
The gender sensitive non governmental organization further recalled that Nwaogu’s effective representation of Osisioma/Obingwa/Ugwunagbo federal constituency and the Abia central senatorial district has been unequalled since she left the national assemblies..
While she was at the House of Representatives and the Senate respectively, Nzuko Umuada Abia further attested that she initiated and made impactful laws that engendered youth, men and women empowerment, as well as democratic processes.
“Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, on exit from the Nigerian legislative chambers, continue to prioritize human empowerments across Abia State and the nation at large, which saw many people from Abia central district and beyond cared for,” the group stated.
The group described it as a welcome development, the recent decision and clamour for the esteemed national lawmaker to return to the Nigerian Senate in 2027, reaffirming their confidence in her ability and capacity to replicate same legislative strides achieved during her previous representation of Abia central senatorial zone in the Red Chambers.
The group also pledged their commitments to rally maximum support and bulk votes for the aspirant under the political platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), if emerged victorious in the party’s primary election, and the main poll in 2027.
Nzuko Umuada Abia therefore used the medium to call on the leadership of the APC in Abia state to cede its Abia central senatorial seat ticket to the Senator , whom they also described as a woman of indomitable courage, antecedent and pedigree, even as the best brain for the plum legislative job.
The Abia women further enjoined every eligible Nigerian citizens to participate in the ongoing nationwide voters registration exercise by the Independent national electoral commission, so as to enable them exercise their franchise in next year’s general election in the country.
According to the socio-ethnic women body, “The citizenry should ensure it register and collect their permanent voters cards (PVC), because, it is the only weapon and power vested on citizens by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to effect a change in government, and vote in credible people to mount leadership saddle in all levels in the country”.
