Anambra State Government has declared restriction of movements in the state from 6am to 10am on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The restriction is part of a statewide sanitation and clean-up exercise being organized by the Anambra State Ministry of Environment to commemorate the World and National Clean-Up Day.
Dr. Clem Aguiyi, Commissioner for Environment in a statement on Thursday, said only persons engaged in essential services would be exempted from the movement restriction during the four-hour exercise.
The government urged residents to participate fully in the clean-up by exercise by clearing their homes and surroundings and ensuring proper disposal of waste.
Aguiyi also directed business premises, streets and markets to carry out their cleaning and waste evacuation on Friday, October 2, ahead of Saturday’s statewide exercise.
Market leaders and business owners were specifically urged to take charge of the exercise within their respective premises and markets.
He urged the residents, businesses, markets, institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with environmental officers and community sanitation teams during the exercise.
The Commissioner said the exercise was aimed at promoting a clean, healthy and sustainable environment across Anambra, urging residents to work together to keep the state environmentally friendly.
