Kennedy Boboye resigns as Sunshine Stars Coach

Head Coach of NPFL side, Sunshine Stars of Akure, Kennedy Boboye has
officially resigned his position.
He made the announcement after his team narrowly lost by 0-1 to Heartland of Owerri at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Sunday.

Boboye, who previously led Plateau United to NPFL glory, explained that his decision was driven by frustrations over undue interference from the club’s management. This ongoing conflict, according to the former international, has made it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his coaching responsibilities effectively.

Having rejoined Sunshine Stars for a second stint last season, Boboye had hoped to improve the fortunes of the Akure-based club. However, the team currently finds itself struggling in 14th place on the NPFL table, with only 13 points amassed after 11 matches, a performance that has added pressure to the squad and coaching staff.

Boboye’s departure signals a turbulent moment for Sunshine Stars as they seek to stabilize in the league.
