Match Day 11 Disturbance: NPFL harmer falls on Plateau United

Following a complaint lodged by Rangers International Football Club of Enugu against fellow NPFL side in their Match Day 11 encounter, the League board has found Plateau United guilty for breaching the NPFL Frameworks and Rules in the course of their game against visiting Rangers International on Sunday, November 10.

In the course of their investigation, the League body discovered that Plateau United failed to provide adequate and effective security, resulting in the attacks on the match officials and the visiting team, Rangers International.

It was also discovered that supporters of Plateau Utd also threw objects towards the field of play leading to the injury of one of the match officials just as the club also failed to ensure the proper conduct of their supporters in the match against Rangers.

The league body further discovered that after the match, supporters of Plateau Utd attacked one of the match officials; an act capable of bringing the game to disrepute.

After reviewing all the evidences, the League body announced that Plateau Utd shall have 3 points and 3 goals deducted from their accrued points and goals for assaulting a match official
Plateau Utd will pay a fine of N1 million each for failing to provide adequate and effective security as well as for throwing objects towards the field of play, totalling N2 million.

Plateau Utd will also pay another fine of N500,000, being compensation of N250,000 each for the assaulted match official (Zakari Aminu) and Rangers player, Daniel Onyia.

Finally, the League body ordered Plateau Utd to underwrite the cost of repairing the damaged team bus of Rangers and other verifiable loss/damage incurred during the incident just as they were ordered to play their next 3 home matches behind closed doors at their New Jos Stadium ground without supporters.

However, Plateau club have 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions.
