Tinubu assures NFF of support at the foundation laying of players’ hostel

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of government’s support in their running of football affairs in the country.

The assurance came courtesy of President Tinubu’s Special Adviser (Media and Public Communication) Chief Sunday Dare who pointed out that President Tinubu’s love for sports, especially football is top notch.

Dare, pointed out that this year’s sports budget clearly shows how passionate President Tinubu is about sports.

The former Sports minister commended NFF for the laudable projects, positing that the Federal Government will continue to support the football house in its efforts to re position the country’s football.

“I must have to commend the Ibrahim Musa Gusau led NFF administration for the laudable project which is capable of transforming the country’s football.

“As a government who takes youths and sports development serious, we’ll continue to support the football house to ensure that Nigeria take it’s rightful position in both continental and global football,” Dare stated.
He charged the NFF not to relent in it’s transformation agenda but to continue to put modalities on ground for the proper development of the country’s football even as he charged them to ensure that the project is completed on record time and put to use for the benefit of the players.

The groundbreaking ceremony which was performed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas attracted FIFA officials, football stakeholders, administrators, important personalities from both the private and public sectors and top government officials.

Named the NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel, the 68-room facility is located at the heart of Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, almost directly opposite the NFF Secretariat. It is a two-wing edifice, with A and B sections, and has a total of 62 single rooms, four suites and two executive suites.

Alongside the hostel is the construction of two new training pitches (one synthetic and one natural grass), re-construction of the existing synthetic pitch, sitting terraces for spectators, two dressing rooms for players (each accommodating 27 players at a time) and two dressing rooms for officials. The spectators’ terraces will have 1,838 seats.
