Tojemarine suffers first defeat of the season on Day 7 of Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 Phase 2
Tojemarine Handball Club, on Tuesday, experienced their first defeat of the season against Safety Shooters on Day 7 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 phase 2 in Lagos.
Tojemarine were second best to Safety Shooters, who seeing a tactical loophole from their opponent’s fortunate victory against Kano Pillars the previous day, capitalised on it to earn a hard-fought 27-24 victory against the league leaders from Lagos.
Both sides have earned victories against each other and Tojemarine have therefore lost their first match in over 15 matches this season and despite still being in poll position, they must avoid another defeat if they hope to win their first Ardova Handball Premier League title.
In other matches in the men category, Corrections Boys defeated Benue Buffaloes 26-22 while D.Defenders slimly defeated Sunshine Kings 26-25.
Rima Strikers, who are now just two points behind Tojemarine, defeated Adamawa Warriors 37-31 while defending champion Niger United atoned for the loss the previous day as they defeated Seasider Boys of Lagos 24-20.
Meanwhile, representative from the league’s title sponsor Ardova PLC and some members of the 70s national teams were on hand to award the MVPs of the matches of Day 7.
