Elite Athletes Development And Podium Board to be inaugurated Thursday
National Sports Commission has announced that it’s newly constituted Elite Athletes Development And Podium Board will be inaugurated on Thursday, January, 30, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary of the board, Bamiduro Olumide on behalf of the Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, the inauguration will hold at the Media Centre of MKO Abiola Stadium, Package A Abuja by 12 noon.
The statement advised all the members to attend the inauguration.
It would be recalled that a fortnight ago, the National Sports Commission
set up the board saddled with the mandate of creating a sustainable system for Nigeria Elites and their welfare as well as to ensure Nigeria has a sustainable podium success at International competitions with a scientific reward system.
Former Nigerian international and one time ‘ Team Nigeria Captain, Yusuf Ali is the Chief Executive Officer of the 13 member board.
Other members are; Prof. Ken Anugweje who will serve as as adviser and member, Dr. Emmanuel Igbinosa, Salihu Abubakar, Aku Aghazu, Tunde Adelakun and Prof. Sadiq Abdulahi.
The Committee also has former Olympian Mary Onyali, Hauwa Kulu Akinyemi, Sunday Odebode and Olalekan Alabi as members while Bamiduro Olumide will serve as Secretary.
Also, Mr. Bambo Akanni of the making of Champions will serve as a consultant and member of the Committee.
