Imo labour crisis: NLC,TUC call off industrial action, sign MoU with government

At a tripartite meeting between the Imo State Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) a memorandum of understanding has been signed by representatives of all parties to suspend the ongoing industrial action in Imo State.

In the memorandum produced after the meeting which was chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu, the Labour Leaders agreed with the Government to suspend the strike to enable peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues.

The Government undertakes to seek ways of remediating genuine and confirmed losses incured during the alleged disruption of Labour activities even though the Government isn’t culpable.

The memorandum was endorsed by Comrade Onyeka Chris, a representative of NLC Headquarters; Comrade Anumwuorji Nduka Peter, Imo State NLC Secretary; Comrade Tony Ebaho, representative of TUC Headquarters; Comrade Amalu Charles, Ag. Chairman Imo State Chapter of TUC; Hon. Cosmas Iwu, Imo State SSG and Hon. Barr. C.O.C. Akaolisa, Attorney General / Hon. Commissioner of Justice.
