The triumph of the Super Falcons of Nigeria over a very determined Black Queens of Ghana in a make or mar encounter in one of the semi finals of the Women’s WAFU Cup has gingered team captain Evelyn Nwabuoku to declare that it is the trophy or nothing.
Nwabuoku who was in no mood to celebrate after the hard fought victory over Ghana said they would remain focused and keep working hard to ensure that the ultimate task of lifting the trophy is achieved.
“We prepared and worked so hard to be in the final, we know it will be very tough at this stage but we have come too far to give up. We want to lift the trophy” were her words after the 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Ghana.
Speaking further she said it is nice to have overcome the set back of injury and bouncing back in style.
“It feels very good after all the setback of injury to be back again doing what I love most. I want to say a big thank you to Coach Dennerby for giving me a fresh opportunity to prove my mettle in the national team.”
Nwabuoku stressed that nothing would be sweeter than capping the fine run so far in Côte d’Ivoire with the trophy.
“As a team, we just have to cap this courageous performance with the trophy,” she concluded.
The Super falcons will tackle Côte d voire in the final on Saturday having taken a delightful revenge against Ghana who stopped them at the same semi final stage in the last edition.
